Eligibility Criteria
The TRIO Upward Bound Program at Cosumnes River College selects students in grades 9 - 12 and must:
- Be first-generation college student (neither parents/guardians has a 4-year bachelor's degree)
- Meet federal income guidelines
- Be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
- Attend Florin, Monterey Trail, or Valley High School
- Have an interest and desire to attend college
- Willing to participate all Upward Bound events/activities in the summer and in the school year
- Remain in the program through graduation in high school
How To Apply
- Interested students must submit an Upward Bound Application to determine eligibility
- Applicants must attend a high school (Florin, Monterey Trail, or Valley) served by Upward Bound and submit all Upward Bound application materials:
- Completed application
- 200 word personal statement
- Two teacher/counselor forms
- Proof of income (IRS Tax Form 1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ)
- Recent high school transcripts and state standardized test scores
- All eligible applicants and their parents/guardians will be interviewed as part of the application process
- Program selection is based on the application packet and students need for the program services
