Hawk Cares Program
Many students face various challenges ranging from food insecurity to homelessness. In order to be intentional in meeting the basic needs of our students, CRC has created the Hawk Cares Program to provide one central location for our students in need.
Due to remote operations many Hawk Cares services have been limited to community referrals. To assist in connecting you with the right services, please see Sacramento Community Resources. This resource document will be updated periodically to provide you with the most up-to-date information.
Services
Homes for Hawks
Homes for Hawks serves as a housing resource hub to current and future CRC students. This project aims to provide relevant, accurate, and sustainable housing information and resources to students who seek affordable housing options and services.
For more information about housing resources and available apartments and rooms for rent, please visit the Homes for Hawks page.
Hawk Spot Food Pantry
The Hawk Spot will be closed during the campus closure. We realize that many students benefit greatly from the support of the Hawk Spot, so we have gathered Sacramento Community Resources available within the community that may be used while the campus remains closed. For more food resources visit the Sacramento Foodbank website.
Gowns for Grads
The CRC Alumni Association and Office of Philanthropy have created the Gowns for Grads program to support students with free access to graduation caps and gowns. If you are a student in need of a cap and gown for graduation, please submit a request. Caps and gowns are provided by the generosity of donors and recent CRC graduates; availability may be limited. If you are a recent graduate and would like to donate your cap and gown, please contact Michele Steiner at (916) 691-7491 or steinem@crc.losrios.edu.
The Hawk Swap
The Hawk Swap provides access to new or gently used clothing to students in need.
The Hawk Swap will be closed during the campus closure.
Shower Facilities for Students
Please visit us during hours of operation to receive a free a hygiene kit that includes, wash cloth, soap, toothbrush and toothpaste.
Student Emergency Fund
The Los Rios Colleges Foundation Student Emergency Fund provides immediate financial assistance (usually within 24 hours) to students involved in catastrophic or unexpected emergency situations.
We don't want life to get in the way of your progress towards a certificate or degree, and these one-time grants come with no repayment obligations. A student may receive a maximum of one student emergency fund grant of up to $500 during all combined enrollments at the Los Rios colleges. All awards are contingent upon the availability of limited funds, provided through generous donations.
Textbook/Supply Voucher
The Textbook/Supply Voucher provides CRC students an opportunity to request additional financial assistance to obtain textbooks and/or course-adopted supplies for required coursework. Students can receive $250 a year up to two years. Processing will be completed within three to five business days.
The Textbook/Supply Voucher is made possible by CRC's generous donors.
