The Center for Inclusion and Belonging (CIB) and Film and Media Studies (FMS) program at Cosumnes River College are proud to introduce the monthly Film and Culture Series! The CIB office and FMS program share the mission of empowering students to explore their identities, embrace the differences of others, and challenge conventional perspectives about art and culture.

Cinema has the power to captivate the viewer—to put them in a position to see images of themselves, or situate them directly into the experiences of others. Examination, interpretation and open-minded discussion about film allows for a better understanding of one another, as well as the world around us. The Film and Culture Series provides a space to view historically significant and contemporary films, engage in critical dialogue about their role as artifacts of culture, identify their subversive potential, and consider the social impact they have within the Cosumnes River College community and beyond.
