NextUP/Guardian Scholars Program is an academic support service committed to advocacy, providing personal growth and economic opportunity for its diverse foster youth student population through education. NextUP is dedicated to student academic success, personal attention, and empowering participating student's to be successful in their educational endeavors.
Program Benefits and Eligibility
Benefits include:
- Priority registration for classes
- Textbook support
- Counseling and advising
- Tutoring
- Workshops
- Transfer assistance/Career assistance
To be eligible for NextUP, you must:
- Have been receiving Foster Care services at the age of 13 or over
- Have verification of Foster Youth Status
- Be under the age of 26 at the beginning of the academic school year
To be eligible for Guardian Scholars, you must:
- Must have been in the Foster Care system for at least one day
- Must be 26 years of age or younger
- Must have verification of Foster Care status
- Be enrolled in at least six units at CRC unless receiving services from CRC's Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS). DSPS is a program that provides equal educational opportunity for students with physical, psychological, or learning disabilities.
