If you’re looking for a career with increasing demand and job opportunities, consider becoming a pharmacy technician! Pharmacy technicians are skilled health workers that operate directly under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.

Cosumnes River College offers a fantastic Pharmacy Technology program with a certificate that has a planned course load of 32 units over three semesters, or you can expand to the two-year, associate’s degree program which will set you up for success in a career or transfer to a university. We have a proven track record of success with 100% of our graduates passing the National Certificate Exam in the past two years.

Successful completion of the program not only qualifies you for registration with the California State Board of Pharmacy, but also prepares you for entry-level pharmacy technician positions. The program is ASHP accredited, which assures graduates that they will have more employment options. Employment of pharmacy technicians is projected to grow 5 percent from 2021 to 2031, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, with an annual mean wage in California of $49,990 a year.

Potential areas of employment include retail, research labs, infusion centers, sports medicine, mail-order, government, long-term care and much more.

If becoming a Pharmacist is your ultimate goal, you can easily transfer with your associate's degree to the California Northern University Pharmacy School through our existing articulation agreement with the university. Start your pharmacy education today!
