The Chef Ann Foundation is a 501c(3) non-profit dedicated to promoting whole-ingredient, scratch cooking in schools. Scratch cooking enables schools to serve the healthiest, tastiest meals from local and sustainable sources so that kids are well-nourished and ready to learn. To date, we’ve reached more than 13,500 schools and 3.3 million kids across the country with healthy school food programming, capacity building, technical assistance, and grant funding for school kitchens.
Chef Ann Foundation’s Healthy School Food Pathway (HSFP) Pre-Apprenticeship program is a 7-week work-based learning experience that aims to prepare individuals for job opportunities in healthy, scratch-cook school food programs. We offer the resources, hands-on training, and network for entry-level participants and experienced staff to become confident leaders who have in-depth knowledge and experience in creating and running successful scratch-cook meal programs.
Our program runs two cohorts per year -- one in the Spring and one in Fall. The application for the Spring 2025 cohort is open November 11 - January 31. The spring program will run from March 31 - May 23, 2025. We are actively looking for students of diverse backgrounds, especially those who have interest in dietetics, culinary, restaurant management, food justice, and/or sustainable food systems to join our program.
