Moana is an adventurous teenager who, despite her father’s admonishments, wishes to leave her home island of Motunui and explore the open sea. In an act of rebellion, she sets out on a dangerous journey to save her island and its people from Te Kā, a fiery creature that has stolen the sacred heart of Te Fiti.

This intricately crafted coming-of-age story combines vivid animation with impassioned musical performances that evoke a range of emotions, while at the same time situating the spectator into Moana’s unique perspective as she explores and asserts her burgeoning identity.
