Creatures of Light and Form: Topographical Explorations

About the Exhibition

The Cosumnes River College Art Gallery’s newest exhibit brings together artists from the community to celebrate photographic explorations of landscape, body and architectural surfaces.

Photographers include Juliet Haas, Tim Messick, Michael Radin, David L. Robertson and Farrell Scott. These artists are founding members of PHOTO Sacto and have been gathering to share their expertise and passion for the fine art of image making and to motivate the practice of creating new work.

The artists bring together their unique photographic explorations of landscape, body, and architectural surfaces. Juliet Haas and Farrell Scott, present photographic works entitled Westfjords Wandering as a “visual conversation” of their shared one-month artist residency in Iceland’s remote Westfjords. Tim Messick’s works include haunting reflections of interior spaces on the exterior windows of abandoned buildings of Bodie. Michael Radin’s mysterious portraits capture fractured light reflected off of crumpled tin foil molded over mannequin faces. David Robertson’s work focuses on the quality of light and shadow on the human figure.
