Marie Schirmer PhD RD

Marie Schirmer graduated from UC Berkeley with a BS degree in Dietetics and completed her dietetic internship at UC San Francisco. She earned her MS degree in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin, and a PhD in Nutritional Biology from UC Davis. She is a registered dietitian nutritionist. She has been teaching introductory nutrition (Nutrition 300) and other nutrition courses at American River College since 2000. Nutrition is Dr. Schirmer's passion, and she enjoys teaching students about how healthy eating throughout life can improve overall health. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys hiking, trying new healthy food recipes, and spending time with her family.
