Math and Statistics Course Sequence
Pathways for Transfer Students
Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Pathway
Choose one of the following options, depending on your major:
- MATH 300: Introduction to Mathematical Ideas1,2 (3 units)
- MATH 333: College Algebra for Liberal Arts1(3 units)
- MATH 333: College Algebra for Liberal Arts1 (3 units) and MATHS 33: Support Course for College Algebra for Liberal Arts3 (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
- STAT C1000E: Introduction to Probability and Statistics1,2 (4 units)
- STAT C1000H: HONORS Introduction to Probability and Statistics1,4 (4 units)
- 1 Transfers to CSU and UC.
- 2 Support is embedded via the lab component.
- 3 Support course may be required based on the student's math placement.
- 4 Honors course requires admission to the CRC Honors Program.
Business, Economics, and Management Pathway
Take the following course:
- 5 Transfers to CSU.
- 6 Some Business, Economics, and Management Programs also require STAT C1000E.
- 7 Some Business, Economics, and Management Programs require MATH 400 instead of MATH 341.
Elementary Education Pathway
This is for students transferring to the CSU Sacramento Liberal Studies program who plan to obtain a teaching credential.
Take the following course:
- MATH 310: Mathematical Discovery8 (3 units)
- 8 Transfers to CSU.
STEM: Calculus Pathway
Choose one of the following options:
- Option 1 – complete all of the following courses:
- Option 2:
- MATH 375: Pre-Calculus9 (6 units)
- Option 3:
Next, choose one of the following options:
- MATH 400: Calculus I9 (5 units)
- MATH 400: Calculus I9 (5 units) and MATHS 60: Support Course for Calculus10 (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
After completing the previous course(s), take the following courses as required by your major:
- MATH 401: Calculus II9 (5 units)
- MATH 402: Calculus III9 (5 units) – may be taken concurrently with MATH 410 or MATH 420
- MATH 410: Introduction to Linear Algebra9 (3 units)
- MATH 420: Differential Equations9 (4 units) – may be taken concurrently with MATH 402
- 9 Transfers to CSU and UC.
- 10 Support course may be required based on the student's math placement.
- 11 Transfers to CSU.
STEM: Biology and Medicine Pathway
Choose one of the following options:
- Option 1 – complete all of the following courses:
- MATH 372: College Algebra for Calculus12 (4 units) and MATHS 72: Support Course for College Algebra for Calculus13 (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
- MATH 373: Trigonometry for Calculus12 (4 units) and MATHS 73: Support Course for Trigonometry for Calculus13 (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
- Option 2:
- MATH 375: Pre-Calculus12 (6 units)
- Option 3:
Next, choose one of the following options:
- MATH 355: Calculus for Biology & Medicine I12,15 (4 units)
- MATH 355: Calculus for Biology & Medicine I12,15 (4 units) and MATHS 79: Skills Lab for Miscellaneous Transferable Math13 (1 unit) – must be taken concurrently
After completing the previous course(s), take all of the following courses:
- 12 Transfers to CSU and UC.
- 13 Support course may be required based on the student's math placement.
- 14 Transfers to CSU.
- 15 Some transfer institutions require MATH 400 instead of MATH 355.
- 16 Some transfer institutions require MATH 401 instead of MATH 356.
