Math and Statistics Course Sequence
Pathways for Transfer Students
Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Pathway
Choose one of the following options:
- MATH 300: Introduction to Mathematical Ideas1 (3 units)
- STAT 300: Introduction to Probability and Statistics1 (4 units)
1 Both of these courses transfer to CSU/UC. Support is built into these courses via the lab component.
Business, Economics, and Management Pathway
Choose one of the following options:
- MATH 341: Calculus for Business & Economics2 (4 units)
- MATH 341: Calculus for Business & Economics2 (4 units) and MATH 79: Skills Lab for Miscellaneous Transferable Math3 (.25 to 2 units) – must be taken concurrently
- 2 Transfers to CSU.
- 3 This support course may be required based on the student's math placement.
Elementary Education Pathway
This is for students transferring to the CSU Sacramento Liberal Studies program and who plan to obtain a teaching credential.
Take the following course:
- MATH 310: Mathematical Discovery4 (3 units)
- 4 Transfers to CSU.
STEM: Calculus Pathway
All BSTEM courses require Integrated Math 3 (IM3), Algebra 2, or MATH 333 prerequisites to be satisfied.
Choose one of the following options:
- MATH 372: College Algebra for Calculus5 (4 units)
- MATH 372: College Algebra for Calculus5 (4 units) and MATH 72: Support Course for College Algebra for Calculus6 (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
Next, choose one of the following options:
- MATH 373: Trigonometry for Calculus5 (4 units)
- MATH 373: Trigonometry for Calculus5 (4 units) and MATH 73: Support Course for Trigonometry for Calculus6 (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
After completing the previous course(s), take the following courses as required by your major:
- MATH 400: Calculus I5 (5 units)
- MATH 401: Calculus II5 (5 units)
- MATH 402: Calculus III5 (5 units) – may be taken concurrently with MATH 420
- MATH 420: Differential Equations5 (4 units) – may be taken concurrently with MATH 402
- MATH 410: Introduction to Linear Algebra5 (3 units)
- 5 Transfers to CSU/UC.
- 6 This support course may be required based on the student's math placement.
STEM: Biology and Medicine Pathway
All BSTEM courses require Integrated Math 3 (IM3), Algebra 2, or MATH 333 prerequisites to be satisfied.

- MATH 373: Trigonometry for Calculus7 (4 units)

- MATH 355: Calculus for Biology & Medicine I7 (4 units)
