Game 1 -- 2/03/2005
   
CRC vs Fresno City 6 - 4 Fresno City
   
Game Notes:  

The Cosumnes River Hawks baseball team opened their 2005 season against nationally #1 ranked Fresno City. Aaron Demuth's 3 run home run in the 2nd gave the Hawks a 3-0 lead with their ace David Hernandez on the mound. Fresno rallied in the 4th scoring 3 runs on 0 hits to take the lead for good 5-3. Both teams addred runs in the 6th inning to end the scoring. The Hawks ended the game with the tying runs on base.

Game Notes:  

On Friday, Cosumnes River saw one of the dominating junior college pitchers in California -- Merced's Omar Aguilar. The Hawks took advantage of Merced's errors to score 3 runs in the 6th to lead 4-3. Back-to-back home runs in the 7th gave Merced the lead for good. Tommy Horning's sacrifice fly in the 9th made the final 6-5 Merced. Once again, the Hawks left the tying run on base.

Game Notes:  

Saturday's game agains Mission was better off forgotten. Mission won 10-2, as the Hawks were shut out until the 9th inning. Freshman pitcher, Nick Nunez started for Cosumnes River and pitched 4 shut-out innings.

Game Notes:  

Aaron Demuth’s 2 run double in the first and Daniel Code’s grand slam home run in the second sparked the Cosumnes River baseball team to their first victory, 13-1 over Merced. Sean Shoffit scored 3 times and had 2 hits, and Tommy Horning had 2 runs on 2 hits. David Hernandez, Austen Facino, Andrew Troncale, Ryan Hummel, and Nick Nunez combined for a 2 hitter against Merced. The Hawks (1-3) play at home Thursday (versus Shasta), Friday (verses Feather River), and Saturday (verses Lassen).

Game Notes:  

Tommy Horning's home run and Matt Anderson's 2 run 2 out single gave the Hawks a 4-0 lead in the first inning, leading to a 9-2 victory over Shasta. Mike Hacker threw 6 strong innings to pick up his first collegiate win. Tommy Horning, Daniel Code, and Matt Anderson had 3 hits in leading the Hawks to their most productive offensive game this year (17 hits).

CRC vs Feather River 4 - 1 CRC
   
Game Notes:  

Alex Bates gave up 1 run in 7 innings, and Andrew Troncale pitched 2 shut out innings to get the save as Cosumnes River beat highly ranked Feather River 4-1. It was the third straight victory for the Hawks and evened their record at 3-3.

Game Notes:  

The Hawks erupted for 14 runs on 17 hits in winning their fourth straight game 14-4 against Lassen College. Sean Shoffit and Evan Zimny hit home runs, while Brandon Haislet had a double and triple with 4 RBI.

CRC vs Chabot 6 - 5 CRC
   
Game Notes:  

Matt Anderson's one-out single in the 10th inning sparked the Hawks to a 6 -5 victory at home over Chabot. Andrew Troncale pitched a hitless 2 and 1/3 innings to get the victory. Daniel Code, Sean Shoffit, and Evan Zimny had 2 hits to pace the offense. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Hawks.

CRC vs Santa Rosa 16 - 4 CRC
   
Game Notes:  

Cosumnes River scored 12 runs in the last 2 innings, beating Santa Rosa 16 - 4. David Hernandez (3-1) threw 7 innings of 2-hit shut out ball in his best outing of the year. Evan Zimny and Jacob Dickson had home runs and 4 RBI in pacing the 20 hit attack. The victory was the 6th straight for the Hawks (6-3).

Game Notes:  

The Hawks won the 7th straight game 5 - 3 at Diablo Valley. Matt Anderson and David Hernandez had 3 hits for the Cosumnes River. Alex Bates (2-0) and Andrew Troncale (2 saves) combined for a 5 hitter. The Hawks resume play Saturday against Lassen. League play opens Tuesday at home against Solano.

The Hawks won their 8th straight game 4 - 2 against Lassen on Saturday. Ben Cargile (1 - 1) and Nick Nunez (1 save) combined to shut out Lassen the final 7 innings. Brandon Haislet homered as the Hawks scored all their runs in the 3rd inning. CRC opens league Tuesday at home against Solano.

Matt Anderson's 2-run home run in the 5th inning gave Cosumnes River the lead for good 4-3, in a 6-3 home victory over Solano in the league opener. Jacob Dickson (2-4) doubled in another run in the 5th and Brandon Haislet homered to cap the scoring in the 8th. Mike Hacker (2-0) was the winning pitcher, with strong relief help from Nick Nunez (2 saves). The win was the 9th straight for Cosumnes River (9-3). The Hawks continue league play at Solano on Thursday.

Cosumnes River (10-3, 2-0) won their 10th straight game Thursday at Solano, 10-6. Adam Carolin scored 3 runs, Matt Anderson had 2 hits and 3 RBI, and Sean Shoffit had 2 hits and 2 RBI. Tommy Horning and Adam Roach also had 2 hits as the Hawks pounded out 13 hits. David Hernandez (4-1) thre 6 innings, giving up 1 unearned run. The Hawks continue league play Saturday at 1:00 against Delta at Cosumnes River College.

Cosumnes River (3-0) allowed one hit in 7 innings and David Hernandez homered and drove in 5 runs in leading Cosumnes River (11-3, 3-0) to an 11-3 victory over Delta. The win was the 11th straight for the Hawks. Both Matt Anderson and Evan Zimny had 2 hits. Brandon Haislet hit his team leading 3rd home run for the Hawks. The Hawks continue league play Tuesday at Delta College. They return home Saturday against Yuba.

Cosumnes River (12-3 4-0) won its 12th straight game 12-1 against Delta. Aaron Demuth doubled and hit a grand slam while driving in 5 runs to pace the offense. Brandon Haislet had 3 hits with a double. Mike Hacker (3-0) gave up 2 hits in 5 innings.

The Hawks continue league play at Yuba on Thursday, and return home against Yuba on Saturday.

The Hawks (13-3 5-0) pounded out 18 hits in a 15-11 victory at Yuba, running their winning streak to 13 games. Aaron Demuth hit 2 home runs and drove in 4 runs, Evan Zimny had 3 hits and a home run, Brandon Haislet had 4 hits with a triple, and Sean Shoffit homered in the victory. David Hernandez (5-1) struck out 11 in 6 innings to get the win. The Hawks are at home Saturday against Yuba.

Cosumnes River (14-3 6-0) won its 14th consecutive game 11-7 against Yuba. The Hawks, the 3rd ranked team in the North, were led by Matt Anderson who had 3 hits and 2 RBI, Sean Shoffit had 3 hits and 3 runs, Tommy Horning had 2 hits and 3 runs, Evan Zimny drove in 3 on 2 hits, and Aaron Demuth continued his hot hitting with 2 more hits. Nick Nunez (1-0) was the winning pitcher in relief. The Hawks are at Sierra Tuesday, and return home Thursday against Sierra.

Cosumnes River (15-3 7-0) -- the 2nd ranked team in Northern California -- won its 15th straight game, 3-2 against 7th ranked Sierra. The victory put the Hawks alone in first place in the Bay Valley East. Mike Hacker (4-0) pitched 8 strong innings, striking out 11 and walking 0. David Hernandez relieved in the 9th to earn the save. David Hernandez' sacrifice fly in the 8th tied the game 2-2. Adam Carolan's sacrifice fly in the 9th drove in the winning run. The Hawks continue league play Thursday at home against Sierra.

David Hernandez (6-1) threw 7 innings of 4 hit shut out balls, as the Hawks (16-3 8-0) won their 16th straight game 7-0 against Sierra. Sean Shoffit scored 3 runs and Brandon Haislet drove in 2 to pace the offense. Cosumnes River, the 2nd ranked team in the North, has a 1-game lead in the Bay Valley East Conference.

The Hawks resume play at home Monday against San Jose. On Thursday, they travel to 2nd place Sacramento City.

Game Notes:  

The Hawks (16-4 8-1) lost 6-5 to Sacramento City, snapping their school record 16 game winning streak. Evan Zimny homered for the Hawks to tie the game 2-2 in the 6th. Adam Roach and Daniel Code had 2 hits for the first place Cosumnes River Hawks. The Hawks resume league play at home Tuesday against Sacramento City.

Game Notes:  
Sacramento City scored 4 runs in the 9th inning and Cosumnes River (16-5 8-2), the number 1 team in Northern California, left the winning run on in the bottom of the inning, as Sacramento City won 6-5. David Hernandez allowed 3 hits and 2 runs through 7 and 2/3 innings. Evan Zimny was 3-3 with 2 runs batted in and Aaron Demuth was 2-3.

Aaron Demuth hit a game-winning home run in the bottom of the 11th, as Cosumnes River (17-5 9-2) the #1 team in Northern California defeated American River 11-9. The Hawks squandered an 8-1 lead after 3 innings and needed to score in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game. Austin Facino (1-0) thre 3 and 1/3 scoreless innings to gain the victory. Matt Anderson (HR), Dan Code, Evan Zimny, Brandon Haislet, Aaron Demuth, and Adam Carolan each had 2 hits for the Hawks. The Hawks continue league play Saturday at American River College.

Game Notes:  

Cosumnes River (17-6 9-3) completed the second round of Bay Valley East play with a 7-5 loss to American River. The Hawks are a game out of first going into the crossover round. Brandon Haislet and Tommy Horning had 2 hits to pace the attack.

Cosumnes River resumes play Tuesday at Los Medanos.

Game Notes:  

Cosumnes River (18-6 10-3) moved back into 1st place with 16-4 win at Los Medanos. David Hernandez (7-1) threw 5 strong innings for the victory. Tommy Horning (3-4, 3 runs), Evan Zimny (3-4, 3 runs, 3 RBI, 2B, 3B), Matt Anderson (3-3, 4 RBI, 2B, HR), and Sean Shoffit (3-5, 2B) paced the Hawks 21 hit attack. The Hawks scored 13 runs on 13 hits to break open a 2-2 game in the 5th.

Cosumnes resumes play Thursday at Diablo Valley College and returns home Saturday for a game against Contra Costa.

Game Notes:  

Evan Zimny homered twice and drove in 5 runs in pacing Cosumnes River (19-6 11-3) to a 12-7 victory over Diablo Valley College. Tommy Horning had 3 hits and a home run, and Sean Shoffit hit a 3-run home run. Johnny Thompson (1-1) was the winning pitcher for the Hawks.

Cosumnes River (20-6 12-3) moved back into 1st place in the Bay Valley East, overcoming 9 errors in a 6-5 victory over Contra Costa. Evan Zimny (3-4, 2B) and David Hernandez (2-3 2B) paced the offense. Adam Carolan's base hit in the bottom of the 8th broke a 5-5 tie and gave Nick Nunez (2-0) the victory. David Hernandez struck out the side in the 9th to earn the save.

The Hawks continue play against Santa Rosa at home on Tuesday .

Evan Zimny's grand slam in the 5th broke a 2-2 tie, as Cosumnes River (21-6, 13-3) -- the #1 team in Northern California -- defeated Santa Rosa 6-5. Matt Anderson's 2 run home run in the 1st got the Hawks started and gave them a 2-1 lead. Dave Hernandez (8-1) struck out 10 in 7 innings to get the victory. Andrew Troncale struck out 3 of the 4 batters he faced to earn the save.

The Hawks resume league play Thursday at Napa College.

Cosumnes River (21-7 13-4) struggled on offense in a 4-2 loss to Napa. Jacob Dickson's pinch hit double in the 9th drove in the only 2 runs for the Hawks.

The Hawks continue play at Marin on Saturday.

Cosumnes River (21-8 13-5) struggled on offense in a 3-2 loss to Marin. The defeat created a 3-way tie for 1st in the Bay Valley East. Mike Hacker threw 6 strong innings, allowing 3 hits -- only 1 after the 1st inning.

The Hawks start a 4 game home stand Tuesday against Mendocino.
