Until Fall 2019, this page had been an introduction to the online courses I taught at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, CA.
For the past several years I added web-based enhancements to my traditional classes and since 2006 had offered Stat 300 and other Math classes completely online. My past online students tell me taking a class online is a challenging environment for learning, one that has to balance flexibility with self-discipline and time management. As my students learn to take advantage of all the online resources provided with my courses, I, too, am learning to combine the best practices in making the most of online teaching. I hope these online courses will be a valuable and enjoyable joint venture, for both me and my students.
This site was a pre-semester introduction to those online courses, and a place to find out how to get connected.
But beginning in Fall 2019, CRC has launched an innovative approach to the redesigned Math/Stat curriculum mandated by California legislation (AB 705). Our STAT 300 classes, and our new Pre-Stat, STAT 100, classes have been redesigned to include both lecture and lab for interactive, collaborative, active learning in the classroom. With a lab environment impossible to offer within a fully online course, we have suspended our offerings of STAT 300 online beginning Fall 2019.
Please join us live and hands-on in our classrooms on campus!

I've been teaching for more than 20 years, and have taught Statistics and most of the spectrum of Math courses, from Algebra to Calculus. My favorites are Statistics, and those courses that create the math foundations for my students to build on. Although I have taught in three states, and at both the community college and university level, I have happily settled for the last 20 years at Cosumnes River College. Over the last several years, my in-classroom courses, and online courses, have taken more and more advantage of what technology can offer the educational experience. Each semester I start fresh, with new students and new challenges ahead!
