DACA and Supporting Our Undocumented Communities

September 15, 2023

Monarch butterfly perched on We Stand With Dreamers text

Earlier this week, a federal judge in Texas rejected the latest legal effort to save the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Although this ruling does not change the current implementation of DACA, we know that this can be a difficult time.

Today, we reaffirm that the Los Rios colleges stand with Dreamers, and will continue to do anything in our power to support those in our undocumented communities.

Each Los Rios college has a Dream Center or similar dedicated safe space on its main campus to serve our undocumented students, and we encourage all faculty and staff to access resources or to connect students with Dream Center staff if they are in need of any support or if they have questions. Our Dream Centers are equipped with staff and resources to help students, or connect them with legal experts in the area and even financial resources to help with their DACA renewal.

We will continue to follow this issue closely, and will always do everything we can to provide support and resources to our undocumented community, and others at our colleges who have been historically marginalized or whose voices are too often silenced.

In solidarity,
