WHAT ARE THE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AND PATHWAYS IN THIS FIELD?
What is the outlook for entry-level employment in this field?
This program focuses more on preparation for transfer than on entry level employment. The certificates are more focused upon entry to the work force. The physical tests and demands of the profession require good upper body strength so students might want to put in some gym time or hire a trainer to help them prepare. Women can and do pass these physical tests. Elk Grove has five or six currently working in the Department.
What other jobs are related to or made possible by experience or training in this field? What is the potential for advancement in this career?
The agricultural industry is very broad since it ranges from the actual resource management of animal and food production at the farm and ranch level through the food processing and marketing distribution businesses. In America, our food chain is rigorously regulated by various governmental and scientific agencies so that means that there are many regulatory jobs out there also.
