Information of Specific Interest to Adjunct Faculty Members

CRC employs over 200 adjunct faculty members who play a tremendous role in helping the college serve the instructional needs of students! Below are links to topics of specific use and interest to adjunct faculty.

Additional general information about the College is available in all of the other major sections of the Faculty/Staff Resource Guide. Of particular interest will be the "Faculty Resources" tab, which includes the Opening Bulletin for all faculty, Course & Classroom Information, Student Behavior in the Classroom, Instructional Services, and several other important resources. If there is information missing that you'd like to see on this Web page, please let us know by clicking on: Need Help?

Adjunct Faculty Office Hours

  • Adjunct faculty who teach a .2 to .39 FTE load are eligible for compensation for nine office hours per semester.
  • Adjunct faculty who teach a .4 FTE or higher load are eligible for compensation for 18 office hours per semester.
Interested adjunct faculty members should check with the Division Office to determine their office hour eligibility. Adjunct Office Hours is a district-wide program; compensation for office hours can only be requested at one college for all office hours taught throughout the District. Interested adjunct faculty members must complete the Interest Form for Adjunct Faculty Office Hours Program and return it to the dean by the end of the first week of the semester. The dean's office will keep the forms on file until the end of the semester, verifying that the office hours obligation has been met and forward them to the Vice President of Instruction and Student Learning who will authorize payment.

Adjunct - Unemployment Information

    Subject: Unemployment questions answered

The most common question is, "I am employed full-time elsewhere; will I still be eligible to collect unemployment?" If you are employed full-time on a regular basis apart from your adjunct position in Los Rios, you will not be eligible for unemployment benefits when the semester ends. Neither will you be eligible even if your spring 2010 class was cancelled. On the other hand, if you are employed part-time in another position outside of your Los Rios adjunct employment, you may be eligible for unemployment benefits at the end of your last class. I would apply. Eligibility is based on your income and, without your Los Rios employment you may fall below the maximum allowable income. The best method of applying for unemployment is through the EDD Web site at www.edd.ca.gov. Just follow the links on the home page. Apply for unemployment after your last final, on that same day, if possible.

And, finally, yes, you can get unemployment over the winter break, if you are eligible. Although, technically, it's unlikely you'll actually receive a check during the break. It will most likely arrive after the spring semester starts.
