ABOUT THE CAMP:

This multi-sports camp is designed for boys and girls ages 5-12, and features a dynamic week of physical activity and recreation while giving campers a brief "taste" of several different sports and recreational games. It is engineered to appeal to campers who may not be interested in a full week of any specific sport and campers who simply want to try new things. Our camp provides a great opportunity for children to experience a variety of sports with an emphasis on fun. ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:

ANDREA ZARATE - Director
Andrea Zarate, Sacramento native, started playing youth soccer at the age of 5 years old. As a youth, Andrea played for numerous local competitive soccer leagues. During her last two years of competitive soccer as a member of Capital Valley, now known as California Rush, she won back to back State Cup Championships.

Andrea attended Cosumnes River College (CRC) after playing 4 years of Varsity Soccer at Valley High School. During her first year as a college soccer athlete, Andrea was awarded the prestigious national All-American award. Regionally and locally she earned Western Region, 1st Team Northern California, 1st Team All-Conference, Pepsi-Scholar Athlete, CRC Female Athlete of the Year, and team MVP. Andrea’s second year at CRC was topped off by attaining the school’s scoring record of 22 goals in a single season. The success Andrea accomplished at CRC was not only limited to the soccer field, but she also excelled in the classroom by earning honors with an AA degree.

Recognizing the importance of balancing school and soccer, Andrea transferred to the University of California, Davis in 1996 to continue her education and soccer career. Upon receiving her Bachelor’s Degree as a Human Development major, Andrea was awarded All-Western Region and All-Conference in soccer. After graduating from UC Davis, Andrea enrolled into the Teaching Credential Program at California State University, Sacramento. While in the program, she coached competitive soccer with Capital Valley. Andrea is currently a teacher at Sam Brannan Middle School where she has been dedicated to her students for the last 7 years and is also the Co-Owner of Art Beats Academy which focuses on toddler art and movement classes offered with Cosumnes Community Services District (CSD).

“Participating in athletics has always had a positive impact on my life. Many skills and experiences were gained solely by being an active athlete. Athletics has not only provided numerous opportunities, but it has also provided me a significant amount of life long lessons applicable for the real world. Sports and exercise are necessary for the development of our children, and I feel only fortunate to work with young children to provide opportunities to enhance their lives.”
