Donnye Ross brings 22 years of coaching experience to James Giacomazzi's coaching staff. Coach Ross assists the head coach in organizing, directing, and administering many facets of the Men's Basketball Program as well as on-court coaching. His responsibilities include, but are not limited to, practice and game-day preparation, player development, and film breakdown. Coach Ross also actively promotes all summer camps throughout the entire year, assists in organizing summer basketball camps together with including the creating of all camp lists and booklets. Other responsibilities Coach Ross is tasked with include providing a program for each camp participant, including a journal to record their activities and progress, and is responsible for filming games and practices. He also performs film evaluation and breakdown of practice and game tape, and sets-up viewing opportunities for players and staff.
Coach Ross is responsible for all video equipment when traveling, including the collecting and issuance of all gear, setting-up video equipment in the appropriate rooms and take down for departure. In conjunction with the training unit and within medical guidelines, Coach Ross assists with conditioning and training of team members. Ross is also an Adjunct Instructor working closely with Faculty to help with ensuring academic success of student-athletes, and performs additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Head Coach.
Donnye prepped at St. Mary's High School, Berkley High School where he lettered in three sports, basketball, football and track. Donnye was Head Coach at Richmond High School for two years. He was an assistant coach at Sacramento High School, Skyline and Los Angeles City Colleges.
Donnye earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management from the University of Redlands, a Master of Science degree in Sports Management from Nova Southeastern University. Currently he is pursuing a Doctor of Psychology degree with the specialization in Sports and Performance Psychology. Donnye is single and lives in Sacramento.
